Vietnam was at the top of our “where will we wander next” list in 2014. Hearing mixed reviews from other travellers who had visited, we were all the more determined to check it out ourselves.

We packed a fair bit of wanderings in this 21 days, travelling from South to North, exploring some of its principal cities, lived with the locals along the Mekong Delta. Well, sort of …..  (the truth will come out later!). We experienced some of this countries fascinating culture, visited many of the historical sites of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, lazed on the beautiful beaches of Hoi An and Nha Trang, kayaked through limestone caves in Halong Bay and amazingly it doesn’t stop there.

We had such a fantastic time over our short three weeks, that in 2016 we extended a planned family holiday in Thailand and returned to Vietnam checking out Cambodia on the way.

I have included in this post a video Vietnam Tourism has put together showing just a snippet, of what this beautiful country has on offer, and I will be posting detailed posts of our experiences including our itineraries for both trips, which certainly worked for us, and may be helpful for anyone planning their next vacation to the incredible Vietnam.

Are you planning a visit to Vietnam or Cambodia? Or have you been? I would love to hear what you thought of the place! Please leave a comment in the box below.
